What Is The Journey?
The Journey is not just a stage play — it is a prophetic experience through theatre, written and directed by Shadrock Porter and produced by Genesis Advance Performing Arts Society (GAPAS). This original production will debut as the centerpiece of our 40-year celebration weekend in North York, Ontario, on Saturday, July 19, 2025.
This powerful, multi-disciplinary performance fuses drama, dance, music, visual art, and spoken word to tell a story rooted in the biblical Israelite legacy and its echo in modern times.
The Story Behind The Journey
At its heart, The Journey explores the ancestral path of a people awakened — tracing the migration, spiritual awakening, cultural reclamation, and generational hope of those who have endured and overcome.
From the ancient lands to the present-day diaspora, the narrative draws on real historical insight, emotional truth, and the enduring power of identity. Each act unveils chapters of:
- Displacement and struggle
- Discovery and transformation
- Restoration and purpose
